TLB GmbH is a service organisation that is available to all universities and higher education collages as well as medical research institutes in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The objective is to make the results of scientific research available to industry so as to create the maximum economic benefit.

Servicing of their client inventors is based on a vertical structure. That means that each Innovation Manager at TLB takes care of all steps of the commercialisation business from the acquisition and evaluation of inventions to their protection, marketing and licensing for each technology in his or her portfolio. At present, a total of 8 Innovation Managers with different scientific and professional backgrounds have the task of evaluating and marketing technologies to relevant industries.

Partners of TLB are all nine universities of Baden-Württemberg, the universities of applied sciences of Constance und Offenburg, effectively acting for the other universities of applied sciences, the "Fraunhofer Gesellschaft für Angewandte Forschung e. V.", as well as the "Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg GmbH".
