How to use Technologies offered

A search for a cancer, preclinical stage, synthetic opportunity would use the selection "Therapeutics, Diagnostics" in 'Sector', 'Cancerous, neoplasmatic' in 'Disease Category', 'Drugs, Small Molecule' in 'Technology' and 'Preclinical' in 'Development Stage'.

Selection of 'Enabling Technology, Platform Technology' in 'Sector' will identify all kinds of research technologies that can be used in more areas of life sciences than pharmaceuticals only.

Each technology profile gives the name of a company or academic institute as source of the offer, and a link allowing to contact the potential licensor. In most cases a profile includes a pdf covering the available non-confidential information as well as detailed contact data.

Registered users can create non-public notifications profiles which will inform them about new 'Technologies Offered' entries fitting their needs as specified. In addition these profiles allow them to filter the available information more comfortably.

Name

1,3-Propanediol production technology using microorganism variants

Organization name

PVA Saarland

Profile

Technical Summary

  • Microorganism variants in which a gene coding for a transcription activating factor or dihydroxyacetone kinase of a glycerol oxidation pathway is deleted or inactivated in the microorganisms having the ability to produce 1,3-propanediol.
  • A method of preparing 1,3-propanediol at a high yield by cultivating the microorganism variants in two steps without producing by-products.

Technical Superiority

  • Increase in yield of 1,3-propanediol
  • price competitiveness (please see flyer for further information)

Technical Data

Please see the flyer for technical data.

Applications

Polyester and polyether synthetic material

  • high functional fibers
  • plastic films

Monomers for PTT synthesis

  • next generation fibers to replace PET

Waste glycerol recycling

  • recycling of glycerol, which is a by-product generated in the process of producing biodiesel
  • an annual output of waste glycerol in Korea is approximately 54,000 tons
