Product name
Cyplat - Ortho-platinated Primary Amines from RWTH AachenSummary
Synthesis of organometallic platinum(II) complexes with orthoplatinated primary amines as ligandsOrganization name
ProvendisProfile
The inventions pertains to a new method for the synthesis of organometallic platinum (II) complexes with ortho-platinated primary amines as ligands. The procedure developed in this context provides the first high-yield and general access to the title compounds.
Commercial opportunities
The compounds obtained according to this new synthetic route represent potential candidates for the medical treatment of tumor diseases. Results on cell cultures are available and indicate pronounced cytotoxicity in pharmacologically relevant concent rations.
Current status
The invention has been registered as a patent by RWTH Aachen University. Attempts to enlarge the range of substrates are under way. Additional pharmacological tests on cell cultures will be undertaken. To the best of our knowledge, the method is not restricted by third party protective rights. In the name of RWTH Aachen University PROvendis searches for companies interested either to license the method or to work in a joint -venture research project.
Benefits
- High yields
- Compounds rarely used in pharmacological applications
- Broad range of substrates
- Easy access too enantiomerically pure compounds
- Positive results in cell cultures
- Structural studies
