Product name
Peptides for differential modulation of proteasomal activitySummary
Using the inhibiting peptides, various pathological processes such as inflammation, autoimmunity, neurodegenerative and malignant diseases can be influenced.Organization name
IPAL GmbHProfile
The technology relates to peptides with regulatory influence on proteasomes that are characterized by the existence of a sequence motif of the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT).
The proteasome is involved in a variety of proteolytic degradation processes such as degradation of misfolded proteins, generation of MHC class I restricted peptides, the processing of tumor antigens, cytoplasmic pathogens and endogenous proteins.
The proteasome can be inhibited in vitro as well as in vivo. Therefore the technology is suitable for use in research as well as in the hospital.
Advantages
- Side effects of other protease inhibitors are reduced
- Wide range of indications
- Use in research (analysis and regulation of the proteasome) as well as in the hospital (tumor therapy, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiologic indications, autoimmunity, inflammation)
- Advantageous applicability, because the examined peptides have a regulatory effect, but they are not degraded by the proteasome.
A German patent application was filed.
The technology was developed at the Charité (Berlin/Germany) and is offered by IPAL.
